If the carrier is only pulled out when it’s time for the car ride, then they will be frightened well before reaching the clinic.
- Leave the carrier out. Toss treats and food in it. Try feeding meals in it.
- Get your cat used to being carried in it, even room to room.
- Move onto the car once she is comfortable. Slowly increase the driving distance from just down the driveway to getting a coffee. Each time, return home for a meal.
- Try using a synthetic pheromone spray, such as Feliway.
